A little spotting internally, though the illustrations are clean and bright. No previous owner's names. Illustrated title page and endpapers.Proem by Austin Dobson. A very pleasant copy of the first edition to be illustrated by Rackham, whose illustrations differ in a unique and charming way from the originals of John Tenniel. Illustrations by illustrators other than Tenniel only began to be published in the 1890s, with Rackham's constituting one of the significant early contributions.
